STANDARDS: Maryland Core Learning Goals, Expectations, and Indicators Goal 1 Functions and Algebra: The student will demonstrate the ability to investigate, interpret, and communicate solutions to mathematical and real-world problems using patterns, functions, and algebra. Expectation 1.1: The student will analyze a wide variety of patterns and functional relationships using the language of mathematics and appropriate technology. Indicator 1.1.2: The student will represent patterns and/or functional relationships in a table, as a graph, and/or by mathematical expression. Assessment Limits: 1.The given pattern must represent a relationship of the form mx + b (linear). |

RESULTS:
Organize: On the classwork BCR that was assigned to the three classes being taught this information, the following breakdown was observed. A total of 65 students submitted the work:
Breakdown by individual classes:
Period 5
Period 10
Reflect: I feel all three classes need work on how to determine the independent variable from the dependent variable using a formula. Some review in the form of drill, incorporation into future examples, classwork, and homework are needed for filling in a table using a given formula and constructing a graph from that table. All this will be infused in future lessons as review and reinforcement. |
